Bronx fathers call for end to violence
A dozen dads rallied outside the Bronx County Building today, calling on other fathers to step up and help put an end to the violence that's plagued the city recently. The demonstrators were part of different fatherhood initiatives from around the city, including Dare 2 Dream. They say other fathers need to take an active role in their children's lives in order to bring the bloodshed to an end. The rally comes after a rash of violence this summer, including the murder of 4-year-old Lloyd Morgan on a basketball court in Morrisania, and the murder of 14-year-old Kemar Brooks at a Baychester park. After the rally, the group marched to the Bronx Fatherhood Training Center on the Grand Concourse. Organizers say it's just one of many resources available in The Bronx to help fathers get involved.
