4-year-old killed in Morrisania playground shooting

A 4-year-old child was killed and two others injured during a playground shooting in Morrisania Sunday night.

According to witnesses, a tribute basketball tournament was being held at the Forest Houses on East 165th Street when shots rang out at around 9:30 p.m. EMS says the young boy, Lloyd Morgan, was hit in the head and pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.

Officials say a 27-year-old man was shot in the stomach and also taken to Lincoln Hospital. The third victim, a 21-year-old man, was shot in the arm and took himself to Saint Barnabas Hospital. Both are in stable condition.

Witnesses say there was more than one shooter and that they were dressed in black shirts among the crowd at the tournament.

No arrests have been made and police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
