Major work on Alexander Hamilton Bridge gets under way

Bronx commuters are bracing for gridlocks in their daily travels as major construction gets under way on the Alexander Hamilton Bridge.For the next three months, the middle lane on the Bronx-bound side of the bridge will be shut down. It's part of a renovation project by the state Department of Transportation.The bridge feeds traffic to and from the George Washington Bridge, the Major Deegan Expressway and the Cross Bronx Expressway.Drivers are advised to give themselves extra travel time over the next few months, especially during rush hour.
