18-year-old football star killed in Williamsbridge hit-and-run

A family is mourning the loss of their 18-year-old son today after he was struck and killed by a driver Friday night.
David Troy Ellis, a high school football star, was biking near East Gun Hill Road and Webster Avenue when he was hit by a 2001 Nissan Altima, sending him flying into another lane. Ellis was then hit by a Ford Explorer. The driver behind the wheel of the Ford stayed on the scene, while the driver and passenger of the Altima fled on foot.
Ellis is one of 10 siblings who moved back to The Bronx a year ago from Florida to play football for Jamaica High School. Family members say the cornerback had dreams of being recruited by Florida State University and maybe even playing professional football one day.
Police say they are currently searching for the driver and passenger of the Nissan Altima. Officials ask anyone with information on the driver to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
