Longtime BX resident says crumbling curb has become a threat
One longtime Bronx resident says the crumbling curb outside her building is dangerous, and she just wants it repaired. Eileen Gonzalez, 73, says the damaged curb outside her home on Unionport Road near Pelham Parkway makes it dangerous for her to get into any car or the Access-a-Ride bus. Gonzalez, who requires a walker, says she has called 311 repeatedly for a year, but the problem has not been handled. By law, property owners are required to maintain sidewalks. The owner of Gonzalez's home declined to comment. The city transportation department says it will send an inspector out and monitor the condition.
