Wheelchair-bound tenants stranded due to broken elevators
Broken elevators in the Bronx River Housing Projects have stranded wheelchair-bound residents on the ground floor and tenants tell News 12 The Bronx this isn't the first time broken elevators were left unfixed.
Leonard Brockington says he had to spend the night with his neighbor on the ground floor due to a broken elevator in his building at 14-40 Bronx River Ave. Another tenant says he spent the night stranded in the lobby. Brockington says when he complained about the broken elevator, he was told similar outages have been happening throughout the city at other New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) buildings.
News 12 The Bronx reached out to the NYCHA to find out when the elevators will be repaired but hasn't heard back yet.
Residents in BX building without elevators for over 2 weeks
