Sunday celebrations to shut down Bronx roads

(09/07/12) - Celebrations will abound in The Bronx this weekend, but not without some major traffic trouble spots.

The Feast of Ferragosto will take place Sunday in Little Italy from noon until 7 p.m. The celebration, which welcomes the fall harvest, will shut down Arthur Avenue between Crescent Avenue and 187th Street. Shuttle service will be provided.

The Fordham Road Renaissance Festival will also be held Sunday. The area will be closed between Kingsbridge Road and Morris Avenue from noon until 6 p.m.

The final event is the Central American Parade, which will head down Southern Boulevard from East Tremont Avenue to Boston Road. The procession starts at noon and will last until 2:30 p.m.

Anyone trying to get around the borough is urged to use mass transit, although weekend track work will also be in effect.
