Disaster site helping BX business owners apply for aid

A pop-up disaster site in The Bronx is lending a hand to local business owners affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is teaming with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to help people directly apply for government aid at the Bronx County Courthouse.

Several area businesses took a hit during the superstorm, including popular City Island restaurant Tony's Pier, whose owners are already in the process of getting help.

Residents who suffered home or property damage will be able to get the same type of assistance later this week when a similar relief center opens in Throgs Neck.
