Ex-zoo monorail conductor: No way to stop jumpers

Former Bronx Zoo monorail conductor John McLaughlin says that there is nothing a monorail conductor can do to stop someone from jumping off the ride.
Authorities say 25-year-old David Villalobos, of Putnam County, jumped off the monorail today into the tiger pen where he was subsequently attacked by a tiger, but survived.
McLaughlin, who now works for News 12 Traffic and Weather, used to operate the monorail, and said that the ride used to have a plexiglass barrier surrounding the open cars. However, he says the plexiglass has since been removed.
Zoo officials say there has never been anyone who has jumped off the ride in its long history.
