Local childrens' hospital using technology to ease patients' stays

For young patients at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, getting through all the procedures and doctors visits can be stressful, but the hospital has a system to makes the day a little easier for the children.
The hospital employs a computer-based care system that brings movies, games and the Internet to children bedside.
The program also employs people to act as "explainers" to the children, teaching them how to use the system.
The program's director, Mildred Suarez-Bautista, say that along with helping the patients, the explainer program helps get more urban youth involved with science, medicine and technology.
