Police car crashes en route to bodega holdup
A police car that was responding to an armed robbery at a Morrisania bodega never made it to the scene after slamming into an SUV.
According to investigators, the NYPD vehicle crashed on 163rd Street and Boston Road, just blocks away from Natalie Grocery on 169th Street. Emergency responders had to use the Jaws of Life to cut one officer out of the wreck.
Police sources say two officers and the driver of the SUV were all taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The police car was totaled in the accident.
