NYPD denies request for traffic agents at busy intersection

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly has denied Community Board 2's request for traffic agents in order to relieve traffic congestion at the busy, three-way intersection known as Crames Square.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) statistics says the Crames Square intersection is the second most dangerous in the city.

Two years ago, the DOT made installments in response to dozens of injuries at the intersection. Community Board 2 says those installments were not enough.

The community board says they are planning a meeting with the DOT and the NYPD in Hunts Point in an effort to let the agencies see the hazards for themselves.
