BX prepares for Hurricane Sandy

Sandy is a hurricane once again after temporarily weakening to a tropical storm. Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for New York yesterday ahead of the hurricane, which is expected to make landfall late Monday into Tuesday morning. Preparations are under way in The Bronx, with residents stocking up on flashlights, sand bags and generators. While Sandy's track may still be uncertain, Bronx residents say they're not taking any chances. To prepare for the storm, put together a "go" bag with essential supplies. Then, check News12.com or call 311 to determine if you live in a low-lying area. These residents are not required to evacuate, but that may change as Sandy nears.Crisis MapNews 12 The Bronx Weather Center
