BX woman convicted in lawyer impersonation scam

A Bronx woman has been convicted for posing as an attorney to scam people out of thousands of dollars.

According to the Bronx District Attorney's Office, 45-year-old Kehinde Jobi stole more than $53,000 while representing clients out of her fake law office at 95 East 161st St. Her cases ranged from divorce to bankruptcy, and even one that involved the guardianship of an elderly woman.

Jobi was found guilty of grand larceny and practicing without a legal license, and is being held without bail until her sentencing next month. She faces up to 15 years behind bars.
