BX students hit streets to fight breast cancer
Hundreds of Bronx high school students marched in Orchard Beach today to promote and raise money for breast cancer research. The Women's Academy of Excellence marched for a cure as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Organizers say that money raised will go to Latina Share, which provides counseling, support and educational workshops for those affected by the disease.Event organizer Priscilla Guzman says the march also serves as a lesson for participants in identifying symptoms. Thousands of walkers also turned out in the same neighborhood on Sunday for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, which raised an estimated $4,000.
