Suspect in BX motel slaying found dead in Miami
The man suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend and her lover at a Bronx motel has been found dead in Miami.
According to authorities, 42-year-old Joseph Kernizan took his own life after police surrounded the room he was staying in and asked him to come out. Three handguns and two AK-47s were found at the scene.
Investigators say Kernizan shot and killed 28-year-old Tracy Bennett and 50-year-old Reggae singer Wayne Hamilton at the Holiday Motel in Eastchester early Saturday.
Reports say Kernizan began stalking Bennett when he discovered she was having an affair. Authorities allege he followed her to the Holiday Motel where they were killed.
Bennett and Kernizan had two children together. The children are staying with relatives on Long Island.
