Police say a Bronx woman has been swindled out of more than $23,500 by two women running an elaborate financial scheme. Authorities say the 74-year-old victim was approached on Oct. 10 along East Tremont Avenue. They say the suspects pulled off a scam in which they convinced the woman that handing over a large sum would win her an even higher amount in the future.
