NYCHA implementing new security program
A new pilot program is being tested at a New York City Housing Authority building to try and curb crime.
Residents at several NYCHA buildings say that the increase in crime, means that more needs to be done to increase security. Previously, residents in the Murphy Houses asked for more security cameras.
As part of the safety initiative the city is expanding its resident watch program, installing more intercoms and giving residents electronic key tags. The test program is being implemented at the Mott Haven Houses on 141st Street.
If succcessful, the city will expand its safety program to all NYCHA complexes.
