Volunteers are cleaning up Fort Greene Park Saturday in honor of Earth Day.

Nearly 60 volunteers participated in the 23rd annual "New York Cares Day: Spring," which included activities such as picking up debris, painting park benches and replanting ground cover.

The goal of the event was to clean up and prepare the park for summer.

The event also comes at the beginning of National Volunteer Week, which starts on Sunday, April 23.
