Hundreds of New Yorkers gathered Saturday for the 5th annual Hot Sauce Expo in Greenpoint.

Attendees got the chance to taste more than 50 hot sauces from around the country. The event also featured contests and food.

"I'm a hot sauce fanatic and I travel around the country doing hot sauce events," says the organizer. "I just figured there was no hot sauce related festivals anywhere near here so I said you know I'm going to start one."

Companies passed out milk throughout the event to combat the intense spice of some sauces.

The second day of the expo will be on Sunday, April 23, which will include a bloody mary competition and a chihuahua beauty pageant.
