Nonprofit hands out Passover fixings in Brighton Beach

A nonprofit group is helping seniors and others in need by handing out supplies for the upcoming Jewish holiday of Passover in Brighton Beach.

The Be Proud Foundation handed out 550 bags of food to the Russian-speaking community. Each bag was filled with items that include chocolate matzo and herring.

The foundation says it is not just focused on the Russian community.

"I don't want people to feel lonely in this holiday," says Raisa Chernina, of the Be Proud Foundation. "It doesn't matter your nationality, color of skin, religion, we give [to] everybody because hunger doesn't have any voice."
