Annual Passover food distribution event held in Coney Island

Hundreds of people got a chance to get free items for the holiday of Passover in Coney Island.

Organizers say the free items at the Jewish Community Council were enough meals to feed 600 families.

The packages included items like fresh fruits, vegetables, gefilte fish and other traditional foods.

The Jewish Community Council has held the Passover food distribution event for more than 15 years.

Each of the eligible families receive two bags of Passover food.

The families come from Brighton Beach and the surrounding areas. Organizers say the families probably would not have been able to get access to this food without the program.
