Penn Wortman Houses tenants without mailbox since February
Dozens of NYCHA residents in East New York say they have been without a working mailbox for nearly two months.
Residents of the Penn Wortman Houses say that since their mailbox is out of order, they have to make a mile and a half trip to the post office to retrieve their mail.
One woman says her granddaughter came up from Georgia to help retrieve her mail.
"I worry that something's going to happen as far as a car going to hit her or something like that," says Christal Adams of her grandmother. "She might slip, she might fall, she might forget her stop or anything - or even just getting robbed or something."
A NYCHA spokesperson stated that the mailbox had been vandalized and repaired five times since February, but that the housing authority is working to resolve the issue.
