Residents call for completion of Shore Road Park ramp

Brooklyn residents are calling for the completion of the reconstruction of the Shore Road Park entrance ramp, saying only one entrance is both inconvenient and dangerous.

News 12 is told the entrance to the park on 97th Street has been closed off for about one year.

While there is a second park entrance on 100th Street, residents say that sports teams use the ramp to get to St. Patrick's field and are now hopping the fence to pass through.

The New York City Department of Park and Recreation said in a statement that reconstruction should begin early in the summer. According to a spokesperson, the community board and elected officials have been informed and kept abreast of the ramp's reconstruction.

Officials at the Parks Department say the new ramp must be built to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act standards, making the design a bit more complicated. They say the design will be presented to the community board later this month.
