Groups protest Trump’s proposed HUD cuts

Community groups marched Sunday to protest President Donald Trump's proposed $6 billion cut to Housing and Urban Development spending.

Protesters gathered outside Brooklyn Borough Hall to oppose the proposed budget that, if passed, would slash HUD spending by 13 percent in 2018.

Some tell News 12 they are more stressed now than ever before about their housing situations. They say they are worried cuts will worsen the already intense citywide housing crisis.

Those speaking out against the cuts say they want to see more people mobilize and get involved in the conversation.

A HUD representative says the budget is scheduled to be released sometime in May and that HUD will not speculate on the situation until it's final.
