Police search for suspect in possible hate crime on C train

Police are searching for the man who assaulted and harassed another man with anti-gay slurs on the subway.



The incident occurred on a Manhattan-bound C train around 9 a.m. Thursday.



Police say the suspect ran from the Hoyt Schermerhorn Station after the attack.



Police confirm that the suspect yelled anti-gay slurs, punched and spat on the victim.



Police say the assault was unprovoked.



They say the victim stayed on the train until the 59th Street station in Midtown and he reported the incident to police.



Officials are investigating the assault as a possible hate crime.
