Dozens of teens create mural for sexual assault awareness

Dozens of young people took to the canvas to display their feelings about sexual assault.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the teens are trying to put an end to a crime that affects so many.

Teens from across the city drew about the issue that isn't often talked about due to fear or anger. Many of the youths have experienced the crime themselves or have friends or family members who were victims.

A child is hurt by sexual assault every eight minutes in the United States and the event that was organized by the city's Department of Youth and Community Development has the mission to heal those affected and to spread awareness.
