Prospect Park marks 150th anniversary

Hundreds of Little League players paraded into Prospect Park Saturday to celebrate the start of baseball season and the park's 150th anniversary.

The park's baseball association says the beauty in their program is that first timers of all ages are learning the sport, gaining life skills and coming together as a team.

The event opens a weekend celebration of the park, which features running and walking tours, as well as nature programs.

It also kicks off a full season of outdoor programming to celebrate this important milestone.

Prospect Park Alliance President Sue Donoghue says, "The park was seen as a haven for people to come to escape the life of the city, to have recreation and breathe clean air."
