Police release surveillance footage in attempted rape case

Police released surveillance footage Friday of the man they suspect is responsible for the attempted rape of a woman in Bushwick.

Police say the man broke into a window from the fire escape of the woman's apartment. Police say he exposed himself and tried to get into her bed. They say when the victim screamed her roommate came running into her room and scared the suspect away.

Police believe the suspect is between 18 and 22 years old.

Neighbors say the incident has them on edge. They say what happened is a reminder that people should keep windows and fire escapes locked.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
