14 injured after fire inside Flatbush apartment building

At least 14 people were injured, two seriously, after a fire broke out inside an apartment building in Brooklyn, officials say.

The fire started Thursday around 9 p.m. inside the building on East 26th Street in Flatbush.

Fire officials say the fire began on the third floor, and witnesses say there was a lot of smoke.

Twelve people suffered only minor injuries, but officials say at least two people suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to Kings County Hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials say.
