Tenant without heat, hot water since Aug. 2016

A tenant in Coney Island says her apartment has been without heat and hot water since last August.

Sheena Taylor, a resident of a private apartment building at 2832 West 19th St., says she uses space heaters to keep warm and showers in cold water.

She says her apartment has not had gas since August as well.

Taylor sued her landlord, but she says he did not show up to court. A court order gave the landlord a Feb. 26 deadline to resolve the issues, but Taylor says no repairs have been made.

News 12 reached out to the landlord, who said he was not at fault for the building's problems. He says the tenants did not pay their bills.

Displayed in the building are numerous notices left from National Grid, telling the building's landlord that he was behind on payments.

News 12 has reached out to National Grid and is awaiting a response.
