Fashionistas flock to Brooklyn for NYC Shootathon

Models, designers and photographers from all over the world arrived in Brooklyn this week for the New York City Shootathon in Clinton Hill.

On the surface, the event looks like it could have fit in during Fashion Week, but it's actually a grassroots networking event, organizers say.

They want to bring together artists who may otherwise struggle to promote their brands, then give them a platform to show off what they've got.

Participants hope to elevate themselves as they interact with one another, filling different roles: Hairdressers and makeup artists style the models, the models parade before photographers, etc.

The Shootathon will have an encore event Saturday from noon to midnight.
