Brooklyn doctor warns of signs of endometriosis

A doctor at Kings County Hospital is raising awareness about the symptoms of endometriosis.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. That's why Dr. Jed Cutler, an OBGYN at Kings County Hospital, is helping to alert women about the signs of the condition. He says nearly 1 in 10 girls and women in the United States suffer from endometriosis.

Symptoms of the disorder include pelvic pain that gets worse after sex or a pelvic exam, chronically heavy periods and crippling menstrual pain.

Dr. Cutler says to listen to your body and use a pain scale to help tell your doctor what is wrong. Doctors say too many women suffer in silence.
