Wake service held for EMT killed in Soundview

Mourners and colleagues attended a Morris Park wake service Thursday for an FDNY emergency medical technician killed in the line of duty last week.

Yadira Arroyo, a 44-year-old mother of five with 14 years on the job, was killed March 16 by a man who police say stole her ambulance and ran her over while he was high on drugs.

Even Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. attended the service at the Lucchese Funeral Home on Morris Park Avenue.

Jose Gonzalez, 25, is facing a slew of charges, including murder, manslaughter and robbery.

Police arrested Gonzalez moments after the killing, with the help of an off-duty MTA officer and good Samaritans.

Additional services for Arroyo will be held Friday. Her funeral will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m.
