SUV plows into P.S. 36 in East New York; no injuries reported

An SUV smashed into the side of P.S. 36 in East New York Thursday morning, just before students arrived for the day.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m., and no injuries were reported.

News 12 sources say the 60-year-old driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel before crashing. The driver, who refused any medical attention, declined to speak with News 12 at the scene.

The NYPD says charges are not expected to be filed against the driver. The Department of Buildings is assessing the damage to the school.
