Trash remains at NYCHA complex after calls for removal
Brooklyn residents at one New York City Housing Authority complex say they are frustrated with the piles of garbage that remain outside their building despite calls to NYCHA.
As News 12 has reported, residents at the Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant have become increasingly upset over the trash buildup and worsening rat infestation.
News 12 reached out to NYCHA on Saturday about the issue and a spokesperson issued a statement saying, "Families who call NYCHA home deserve to live in well-maintained developments and we apologize for not meeting that standard here. Staff is on-site now removing garbage and exterminators will be at the development first thing Monday morning."
On Sunday, however, garbage was seen still surrounding the complex.
Residents say they are hoping all of it will be removed soon and that NYCHA follows through in sending exterminators Monday.
