Sista-2-Sista Summit empowers young girls in Brooklyn
Empowerment for young girls was the theme Saturday for the 10th annual Sista-2-Sista Summit in Brooklyn.
Hundreds of girls assembled at the Boys and Girls High School to attend workshops and activities, including 'escape the room' and pitching a tent. The summit aims to empower young women of Pan-African descent.
"We have so many women's stories and I feel like sisterhood is so important," says founder Akua Soadwa. "So Sista-2-Sista is an opportunity for our girls to experience the power of sisterhood."
The teenagers, mostly from underserved areas, learned about media, health and wellness.
