DSNY resumes trash pickup after snowstorm

The Department of Sanitation says it resumed trash pickup Thursday after garbage trucks were used to plow snow during the storm.

Officials at the DSNY hub in Gowanus say they attached plows to sanitation vehicles in order to clean up ice and snow from the streets and add extra power to their fleet.

They say the plows have since been removed from the trucks, and the vehicles picked up trash today as they normally would.

Trash and recycling services also resumed as normal, however, DSNY officials say they will need extra time for pickups because of the storm.
