Auto repair shops say bad weather is good business

Auto repair shops around the city were inundated with cars Wednesday in the wake of an icy nor'easter.

At Malibu Auto Collision on Coney Island Avenue, workers described different scenarios that led to storm-related damage.

One person parked under a tree that later tumbled down. Another car was rear-ended by someone speeding on black ice. And several people damaged their own cars trying to dig away the ice.

The shop's co-owner is offering some advice to drivers to try and avoid at least one common problem.

"Do not pour hot water on the windshield to try to get the ice," says Gene Edelman. "It can crack."
