Canarsie residents find cars frozen in snow, ice

Some Canarsie drivers who waited to dig out their cars after the nor'easter found them frozen in place by snow and ice Wednesday.

Tuesday's storm was originally expected to bury the borough in snow, but the region only saw a few inches - followed by a deep freeze.

That complicated matters for New Yorkers who had to go back to school and work the next day.

One man who had to drive to Manhattan for work said he didn't expect his car to be paralyzed by the frozen snow. He told News 12 that his vehicle was plowed in by a sanitation truck.

"I got some work to do before I head off to work today," he said.

That was the same for many adults in the borough who had to chip away ice to move their cars.

For kids, the layer of ice on top of Tuesday's snow created a different problem.

"I can't make snowballs," said Lauryn Alexander, of Canarsie.
