Mayor: NYC public schools closed Tuesday
All New York City public schools will be closed Tuesday for a major snowstorm, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday.
The blizzard could drop more than a foot of snow across some parts of the tri-state area.
The mayor said he made the decision early to help parents make arrangements for the kids to stay home and to keep them off the roads Tuesday morning, when snowfall is expected to be heaviest.
News 12 meteorologists say the city could see 12 to 19 inches of snow, with 8 to 12 inches possible along southern coastal areas of Brooklyn.
It will also be windy, and coastal flooding is possible.
The snow is expected to impact the region beginning early Tuesday morning.
