Supporters, opponents comment on scope of armory project
Supporters and opponents of the Bedford Union Armory project converged for a public scoping meeting in Crown Heights Tuesday night.
The meeting aimed to provide people with the opportunity to comment on the scope of work proposed to develop an environmental impact statement.
Since the details of the project were first announced, many have protested the Bedford Union Armory plans and are demanding the city restart the entire request for a proposal process for the development.
The project plans include a multi-use complex with commercial space, recreational facilities and a mix of low-income, affordable and market-rate housing.
A New York City Economic Development Corporation official tells News 12 in a statement, "Based on extensive community input, this project will turn a long-vacant armory into affordable recreation and community space."
Comments on the draft scope of work can be submitted in writing to the mayor's Office of Environmental Coordination until 5 p.m. on March 17.
