Residents complain about abandoned cars in Ditmas Park
Ditmas Park residents are raising concerns over a recent trend of abandoned cars left on Hinckley Place and Stratford Road.
News 12 was told that some of the cars have remained on the block for as much as six months at a time.
They say the cars do not have license plates, registrations or inspection stickers.
"We do reach out to police," said one resident who asked to remain unnamed. "Police just put tickets on it, that's it."
News 12 has learned that one car currently on the block had a few tickets along with a note on the window that says "people in the area are upset by all the plate-less cars parked on this street. They want to have the cars impounded," along with a sticker that says the vehicle had been referred to the NYPD.
The NYPD confirmed it was responsible for ticketing the vehicles and said abandoned and stolen vehicles are towed by the police department. The NYPD said residents should call 311 to report cars without license plates or registration stickers.
