Police: Barricaded shooting suspect shot self on Gates Avenue
A shooting suspect barricaded himself inside a Bed-Stuy apartment Wednesday during a standoff with police before shooting himself, authorities say.
The man was wanted for allegedly shooting a 28-year-old man Wednesday around 2 p.m. near 565 Gates Ave. in what police are describing as a dispute between a tenant and landlord.
The victim, who police believe is the landlord, was taken to Kings County Hospital and is expected to be OK.
Authorities attempted to convince the tenant to surrender but heard a gunshot before they entered the building. Police earlier said first responders found him dead, but later they announced that he was hospitalized alive with a gunshot wound to the head.
Another tenant describes the landlord as good, hardworking man.
