A basketball game in Brooklyn Heights aimed to unite the NYPD with youth in foster care during Foster Care Awareness Month.
The Patrol Borough Brooklyn North Foster Youth Unity Basketball Game involved 30 young men and women in foster care and 30 NYPD officers from about 10 different precincts.
Organizers say the game was a chance for youth to get to know and unite with law enforcement. They also say they are working hard to spread the word about and pass New York State bill number 1701, an economic empowerment bill to help youth aging out of foster care.
Many hope that the game will become an annual tradition.
