BK pizzeria celebrates 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever
An iconic pizzeria in Bensonhurst that was featured in the movie Saturday Night Fever is celebrating the film's 40th anniversary.
Frank Giordano, owner of Lenny's Pizza, says the disco era movie may have been filmed 40 years ago, but his business has remained stronger than ever.
"This is the same window right here that John Travolta walks up to in the movie and buys two slices of pizza that he puts on top of one another," Giordano proudly points out.
The interior of the shop has pictures of the famous actor, and Giordano recalls the day film crews asked him if they could shoot a scene inside his restaurant.
Since then, Giordano says the movie has certainly helped boost his business, garnering the attention of customers who travel from all across the world just to get a slice.
Other parts of the movie were filmed at a building on 64th Street and at the Verrazano Bridge.
