CANARSIE -

Officials say two people were hurt, including a firefighter, after a home on 83rd Street in Canarsie went up in flames.

Responding firefighters were initially told that people were trapped inside the home, but luckily they got on scene to find that was not the case.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. near the corner of Avenue L.

Fire officials tell News 12 that the fire appears to have started on the first floor, spreading up to the second floor.

Two people were hurt, including a firefighter, but News 12 is told the injuries were minor.

The fire chief says the warm temperatures made it difficult to put out the heavy volume of fire.
