Meet the faces of the NYC ferry workers

Posted: Updated:
BROOKLYN -

The New York City Ferry is now operating along the East River and service is slated to start in South Brooklyn next week.

Canarsie resident Cecil Simon started his career working on boats. Now, he's a deck hand and works alongside Captain Endy Santana every day.

Both men have maritime experience but have not been able to utilize it until now, with the opening of the ferry.

Both Brooklyn residents say it is nice to work in their borough at such a historic operation -- the first citywide ferry service in over a century.
