NYC Parks Department reminds residents of barbecue rules

Memorial Day Weekend means the start of barbecue season for many in the Bronx, but there are some safety rules residents might want to know before putting on their aprons.
The New York City Parks Department has guidelines in place for those planning to grill.
It is reminding people not to break out the barbecue grill if there is a red sign that reads "no barbecue area" in sight.
Adults are reminded to that anyone under 19 years of age is not allowed to barbecue and propane is prohibited.
The department recommends setting up a barbecue 10 feet away from any trees and at least 3 feet off the ground, to avoid any unwanted flames.
Residents are also asked to dump charcoal and trash in a bin and not on the ground.
Failing to follow the park rules could cost $50 in fines.
