BK music community remembers ‘Baba Chuck'

A memorial celebration was held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music to honor the founding artistic director of Dance Africa.
Dr. Charles Davis, known as "Baba Chuck," also made significant contributions to the arts.
There were tributes, personal remembrances and performances during the event.
"He was a brilliant teacher, a great friend and amazing colleague and a powerful spirit who motivated people every day of his life," said Karen Brooks Hopkins, president of the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Davis died on May 14 at the age of 80.
